Rodrigo Sigal

Composer, cultural manager, and full-time tenured professor at the Escuela Nacional de Estudios Superiores, Morelia of the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México, where he was co-founder of the Bachelor's Degree in Music and Artistic Technology http://www.enesmorelia.org.

He is interested in working with new technologies, especially in the field of electroacoustic music. Since 2006, he has been the director of the Mexican Center for Music and Sonic Arts http://www.cmmas.org, from where he coordinates various initiatives in creation, education, research, and cultural management related to sound and music. He received the 2024 Bellas Artes Medal in Music from INBAL (Mexico).

He studied at the Centro de Investigación y Estudios de la Música (CIEM) and obtained a PhD from City University London and a postdoctoral degree from UNAM, as well as a diploma in cultural management from UAM-BID. He has continued his studies and creative projects with various fellowships and support from institutions such as Fulbright (2024), FONCA (member of the SNCA 2011-18), Pride C (UNAM), and the DeVos Institute for cultural management, among others.

He is a member of the National System of Researchers of the SECIHTI (Level 1) and for over 20 years has been part of the Lumínico project http://www.luminico.org, director of the Visiones Sonoras festival http://www.visionessonoras.org, and editor of the journal Ideas Sónicas http://www.sonicideas.org.
