Alexis Aranda

He is one of Mexico's most performed composers. His works have been performed by more than 30 orchestras in Europe, the United States, and Latin America in some of the world's most prestigious venues, such as the Tchaikovsky Conservatory in Moscow, the Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall in New York, the Palacio de Bellas Artes in Mexico, the Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires, the House of Music in Vienna, Harvard University, and the Teatro Verdi in Padua, Italy. They have also been performed in countries such as Austria, Germany, Australia, Russia, Italy, England, Belgium, Switzerland, Taiwan, Portugal, Spain, Canada, the United States, Argentina, Uruguay, Nicaragua, Cuba, Puerto Rico, Colombia, Chile, Guatemala, and Peru.

In 2002, he received the Mozart Medal for musical excellence from the Austrian Ambassador to Mexico; in 2003, the Padua Conservatory awarded him the Cesare Pollini composition prize. FONCA distinguished him with the grant for young creators in both 1999 and 2005.

In 2004, he was named composer-in-residence of the National Symphony Orchestra, being to date the youngest composer in the history of this orchestra to hold this position. In 2007, he was awarded the Work Commission prize by the National System of Musical Development (Sistema Nacional de Fomento Musical); in 2010, FONCA awarded him the fellowship of the National System of Art Creators (Sistema Nacional de Creadores de Arte); in 2016, he was named GUEST ARTIST by the Contemporary Mexico Foundation of Canada; and in 2017, he was named Composer-in-Residence of the P.I. Tchaikovsky Cultural Foundation, AC.
